What is the difference between a steam engine and an electric engine?
A steam engine can do work by
harnessing the increased pressure of
steam created by boiling water and
using that pressure to move a piston
in order to turn an axle or do other
work. I’m not sure I would call an
electric motor an engine…. but it turns
an axle by using magnetic properties
of electrons to convert electrical
energy supplied to the motor into
movement or other work using the
attractive/repulsive forces of
magnetism to turn the motor… but
does not have pistons like the steam
engine being moved by the air
pressure from the steam.
