Virtual security: NCC hands over ICT equipment to Nigerian Army

Abuja —The Nigerian Communication
Commission, NCC, yesterday, donated a set of
ICT equipments to the Nigerian Army Institute of
Technology and Environmental Studies, Makurdi
in Abuja to enhance research.

condoned off by dozens of fierce looking
soldiers, anti-riots policemen and other
complementary security agents who are
jointly patrolling the city ahead of the much
awaited results of the just concluded
governorship and state assembly elections.

The items include 10 laptops, 1 colored laser
printer, 2 black and white laserjet printers and 1
projector.
Presenting the items, the head of ICT department,
NCC, Engr. Abraham Oshadame said the donation
was in response to a request made by the
institute in October 2018 in which the institute
solicited for the Commission’s intervention in the
area of provision of ICT facilities for their use.
He said the Commission is determined to assist
the Nigerian army because of the crucial role they
play in the security of the nation and expressed
confidence that the tools would enhance their
performance going forward.
” I am delighted to inform you that the
Commission promptly responded to the request
by making donation of the ICT equipment to the
institute.
“The Commission no doubt expects that this
gesture will go a long way to complement the
efforts of the Nigerian army towards achieving its
mandate and to further enhance the security of
the country.
“It is our hope that this donation will.make a
difference on the staff and students of our
instrument not only by improving their acess to
information and ICT tools but to developing
appreciation of ICT for improved efficient in
teaching and learning in various subjects.”

“We expect that these ICT tools will be properly
allocated, managed, protected and maintained for
the benefit of staff and students.”
Responding, the Rector of the institute, Brig.
Gen. Aminu Abdul, who was represented by the
Director of IT at the institute, Ms Chidinma
Nwafor, expressed gratitude to NCC for the
collaboration and promised that the equipment
would be put into good use.
She said
The items presented today will actually go a long
way in research and development because we
have students who are studying computer
engineering and environment all studies.
“Right now we do not have some of these items
presented to us in our labs and class rooms.
With this donation, we are confident that our
students would be encouraged more in research
and development, ” he added
